Our class novel

Over the last few weeks we have been reading Shadow Forest by Matt Haig.
The children have thoroughly enjoyed following the story of Samuel Blink and his sister Martha.

I would like Y4 to leave a short review based on the following headings;

  • Did you enjoy the story? Explain your reasons
  • Which part was your favourite?
  • Which creature would you most like to meet and why?
  • If you could ask Matt a question, what would it be?

Dojo points for every review.

Christian aid week

You may know that it will be Christian Aid week next week. Following an assembly about a girl living in the Amazon Rain forest, Y4 have decided they would like to make a difference too.
Instead of using their 10p for toast next week, they might decide to put it in the Christian Aid envelope.
They will be going without something in order to help someone else.

Here is a link to Christian Aid to learn more about what they do.

Adjective bingo

Here the children are playing a new game called adjective bingo.

After looking at the photograph showing several children being evacuated during WWII, the children had to write 9 different words to describe the photograph. If I called out one of the words they had it was crossed off the grid. 3 in a row wins, followed by a full house.

Quadblogging in class

Year 4 had the privilege of being the first class to use the new "ClassMate" laptops yesterday. We used the time to do some quadblogging and research the new topic.

Here they are

Write back and let me know what you think of them.

Talk homework

I would like you to share the story of Lenny Levi with your family.
Tell them about Lenny and what happened to him.
Where did Lenny go and what did he do?
How did he feel and what happened at the end of the story?

When was the last time you said something kind?

Here is our "Say something kind" board. Children in Year 4 give their classmates, including adults, push-ups. Push-ups are a great way of spreading a smile and letting the person know you have noticed their excellent behaviour.

Why not spread a smile today and say something kind.
